The new Talkswitch TS-9133i is an IP phone for use with Talkswitch of course. The phone has some features that you may not be familiar with, or, you may never have used this phone before. There are 7 feature keys that can be programmed via the Talkswitch setup software. Read on to see if this is a phone you may want to consider.
One useful feature is line appearances. While it is rarely important what phone line a call is coming in on, there can be uses for line keys anyway. Previously, to pick a specific line to dial out on, you used a hunt group, say 83 for line 3. Perhaps you were checking phone company voicemail on that line. Still, this was not that common a requirement. But, by using a line appearance key, you can avoid typing 9 to get an outside line. Where it really shines, is in a VOIP environment where you can have DID numbers, such as with CBeyond for example. Previously, you could not pick to dial out on a DID number, your caller ID would show up as your main phone number, period. Now, you can pick to dial out on a so called DID number. This can be very useful in a multi business environment. You can assign a so called DID to mean company 2. So, you can now see which company was called via the status lights on the phone, and, select what company to dial out on . With VOIP such as CBeyond, you can have many calls on the same “line” as a line is just a number, and, a line may have many call paths. So, all calls may be to company 1, or, all could be to company 2. This is different than what you can do with analog lines, where they have to be dedicated to a specific purpose.
Another great feature of the TS-9133i is queue appearances. This can allow you to see calls that have been queued and not answered. You do not have to be in the queue, so, perhaps a supervisor can monitor when calls get queued and are not able to be answered, and, answer them if they so choose.
You can also monitor whether a specific extension is busy or not, and, answer their calls if you so choose.
The 9133i can also be used remotely, say from a home office, when using a VOIP enabled Talkswitch. The same functions can all be done remotely!
The TS-9133i also makes it easy to bounce between multiple calls to your specific extension via the call appearance buttons, there are 3 of those.
Consider the features of the TS-9133i and whether they are important to you or not. Remember, there are 7 buttons to be used with features. If you require more, consider the TS-480i phone. For the most functionality with calls, consider the Talkswitch attendant console for complete control.
